Costa’s new concept in Wandsworth

Costa in Wandsworth

Founded in London by Italian brothers Sergio and Bruno Costa in 1971, Costa is the fastest growing coffee shop business in the UK.  Now they’ve opened a first-of-its-kind store in Wandsworth Town, and they’re promising to deliver a new coffee shop experience.

The new concept Costa store on Old York Road offers alcoholic drinks to complement an enhanced food menu, featuring light snacks like avocado on toast, macaroni cheese, and antipasti sharing plates, which surpassed my expectations.  The head of food has taken trouble to source quality products – juicy, green Nocellara olives and  macarons from well-known French patisserie Bridor.

Costa say they want to share their passion for coffee with customers… and I believe this is more than just a strapline.  The friendly baristas take pleasure in recommending their favourite coffee to customers, and are very proud of their new range of slow drip blends from Sumatra, Kenya and Columbia.

Front of shop is bright and airy, whilst the relaxed lounge, styled with posters reflecting Costa’s heritage, offers a comfortable alternative for those who want to linger.

Deb Caldow, from Costa Coffee said: “As the UK’s favourite coffee shop, we want to inspire the nation to try something different and hope the new range will encourage them to do so. Our Wandsworth store will serve high-quality coffee, handcrafted with care and passion by our baristas, in a stylish new environment.”

The new Costs concept store is located at 328-334, Old York Rd, Wandsworth, SW18 1SS.

Did you know?

  • Costa’s Master of Coffee’s super-sensitive taste buds sample around 5,000 types of bean a year – his tongue is insured for £10 million!
  • Before opening coffee shops, the brothers supplied The Ritz and The Dorchester hotels – to make sure the beans arrived in style, they delivered them by classic black cab.
  • Through their foundation, Costa improves the social and economic welfare of coffee-growing communities – closer to home, they also support communities around their UK stores.
