Did you know that Vincent Van Gogh once lived in Brixton?

We visit 87 Hackford Road, the house where he lived in Brixton, and speak with Livia Wang, the Architect and Curator who has overseen the renovation of the property since it was acquired by her family in 2012. Livia talks about Van Gogh’s time in London and how the major conservation project aims to celebrate the house’s remarkable legacy.

Theatre Company Border Crossings creates theatre in collaboration with artists from different countries and cultures in order to foster and promote intercultural dialogue. We speak to Artistic Director Michael Walling about their new play The Great Experiment on at Tara Arts Theatre, Earlsfield, which tells the little known history of the 2 million Indian workers indentured to replace slave labour after the Abolition of Slavery. Michael reveals how the company researched the personal stories of the workers and why their descendants are only just beginning to make sense of their history now.

Currently based in Bermondsey, Matt’s Gallery has been exhibiting contemporary art since 1979 when it was first opened by Artist and Director Robin Klassnik OBE. As part of Wandsworth’s Cultural Strategy the gallery will move to Nine Elms in Autumn 2020 and ahead of the move we speak with Artist and Writer Patrick Goddard whose audio installation Trip to Eclipse can currently be seen at the gallery.


“Katie Arnstein is starring in the semi-autobiographical Sticky Door at the Vault Festival. Sticky Door is the third part in Katie’s ‘It’s A Girl’trilogy, for which she has won recognition at Edinburgh. We hear about how the trilogy began with an attempt to’completely change’ her personality. Sticky Door promises to be funny and feminist.
