Once upon a time, it was a library…

Now it is a bustling hive of artistic endeavour which has now got some well-deserved public recognition.

Omnibus in Clapham Common has just won The Peter Brook/Royal Court Theatre Support Award.  The award gives them one year’s worth of professional expertise from Vicky Featherstone, the Royal Court’s Artistic Director.

According to Marie McCarthy, Omnibus Artistic Director, “It’s a gear change for us.  Watch this space.”

mule-omnibus_claphamListen in on Monday, when I interview the writer Kat Woods of “Mule”.  Critically acclaimed at the Edinburgh Festival in the summer, “Mule” has just started its run at Omnibus.  Hear how the story of the “Peru 2” inspired Kat to write.

We love our writers on ArtsWatch.  On Tuesday, listen again to Jay Taylor explain his thinking behind “Acedian Pirates” coming to an end of its run at Theatre503 this week. It won’t be the last we hear of him; of that you can be sure.jay-taylor-acedian-pirates

So if all this literary talk is inspiring you to put fingers to keyboards, you’d better listen in on Wednesday.  Amy Thurgood, Head of New Writing at Putney Theatre Company tells us of their new writing opportunity.  If the theme “Love in the Time of Tinder” gets you thinking, get listening.  You have to submit by 12 December.

london-stories-bacOn Thursday, we find out about some real life story telling.  Ian takes us behind the scenes of “London stories: Made By Migrants” on at the Battersea Arts Centre when he meets the producer of this fascinating project, Richard Dufty.
