Putney, is the home of rowing. The University Boat Race is an annual race between Oxford University Boat Club and the Cambridge University Boat Club. The race covers a 4.2 mile stretch of the River Thames, beginning in Putney and finishing in Mortlake.

The first male race was in 1829 and the event has been held annually since 1856. In 2015, the ladies joined the men in racing on the Tideway on the same day.

It is a great atmosphere in Putney in all the bars and restaurants and Wandsworth Radio will be bringing you the atmosphere from the river side all day. So either come down and see us or tune in online, on your phone or on social media.
