The London Russian Ballet School (LRBS) is right on our doorstep – there it is en pointe in Clapham!

The London Russian Ballet School (LRBS) is right on our doorstep – there it is en pointe in Clapham!

In collaboration with leading principals from the BOLSHOI BALLET they present ROMANTIC REVOLUTION on 18th September at the London Palladium.  Listen to our lovely chat with two students from LRBS, Marianne Allen and Kamila Sizinceva, about what this means to them and how hundreds of children from South West London can join the audience for free.

WAIT UNTIL DARK opens in September at Richmond Theatre before starting its UK tour starring TV regulars Jack Ellis (Coronation Street) as Mike and Oliver Mellor (Midsomer Murders) as Sam Henderson. Ian interviews them for us on opening night.  How does a film made famous by its star name Audrey Hepburn translate to the stage today?

ATTIC THEATRE brings its second show to the Merton Art space in October, an adaptation of Leo Tolstoy’s THE DEATH OF IVAN ILYICH.  We interview the Artistic Director Jonathan Humphreys about the challenges of a one man show, translated from Russian…in Wimbledon.

Ever wanted to visit Alice’s Wonderland? Follow the well-known characters through the tunnels and trapdoors that run below Waterloo Station at The Vaults. We speak to the team behind the hugely successful ALICE’S ADVENTURES UNDERGROUND and you’ve got until 23 September to see it for yourself!

Beatrice Harrison was a BBC sensation back in the 1920s with her duets with nightingales.  SAM LEE brings this bang up to date and right in the middle of our borough with his Singing with Nightingales, a nocturnal concert, held at the BATTERSEA ARTS CENTRE.  Bev brings us her experience of the evening in an enchanting episode of ArtsWatch.

FLASHDANCE arrives at NEW WIMBLEDON THEATRE and we were very lucky to get to meet and chat to Joanne Clifton and Ben Adams.  What a feeling!

Look out for an image of a local Wandsworth resident, Jack who lived in the Tonsleys, when you are the newly gleaming Waterloo Station.  This image taken by local photographer BRIAN GALLOWAY, was selected to be part of the Portrait of Britain 2017 which will be on display in public areas throughout September.

This is just a selection of our ArtsWatch shows coming up in September.  Tune in to hear them just after the 6.30pm headlines Monday-Thursday.  Follow us @ArtsWatch for daily programming and if you have something you think we should cover, contact me
