Join us for a day of books, sport, music and community on Saturday 8 August

Riverside Radio is heading to Springfield Park this summer for a special live roadshow celebrating everything that makes South West London such a vibrant place to live, work and play.

On Saturday 8 August 2026, we'll be broadcasting live from Springfield Park, outside TOAST Stores Café, from 12pm until 6pm, bringing together local authors, sports clubs, musicians, community groups and families for an afternoon of entertainment, activities and live radio.

The event is free to attend and everyone is welcome.

Located in the heart of Springfield Park, one of London's newest and most exciting green spaces, the Riverside Radio Roadshow will showcase local talent, celebrate reading and creativity, encourage people to get active and provide a fantastic summer day out for the whole community.

Live from Springfield Park

Throughout the day, Riverside Radio presenters and reporters will be broadcasting live from the park, interviewing guests, meeting local residents and sharing the atmosphere across South West London.

Visitors will be able to meet the Riverside Radio team, take part in live broadcasts and discover how local radio continues to connect communities across Wandsworth, Richmond, Merton and beyond.

12pm – 2pm: Riverside Reads

The day begins with Riverside Reads, our special live book club celebrating children's literature and storytelling.

Working alongside our partners at Book Clubs in Schools, we'll welcome a collection of local children's authors who will be reading from their books, talking about their work and inspiring the next generation of readers.

Children and families will have the chance to:

• Meet local authors
• Hear live book readings
• Take part in interviews and Q&A sessions
• Discover new stories and characters
• Receive free books to take home

The session forms part of celebrations for the National Year of Reading, helping encourage a lifelong love of books and storytelling.

2pm – 4pm: Riverside Radio Sports Takeover

Next, the Riverside Radio Sports Team takes over the airwaves and the park.

A range of local sports clubs and organisations will be offering free activities and demonstrations, giving visitors the chance to try something new and discover opportunities available right on their doorstep.

Whether you're a complete beginner or already involved in sport, there will be activities suitable for all ages and abilities.

Visitors can:

• Meet local sports clubs
• Take part in taster sessions
• Learn new skills
• Discover community sports opportunities
• Get active in one of London's newest parks

The Sports Takeover is all about encouraging healthy lifestyles, bringing communities together and showcasing the fantastic clubs and organisations operating across South West London.

4pm – 6pm: Track of the Week Live

We'll finish the day with a live music showcase featuring some of Riverside Radio's favourite local artists.

Our Track of the Week Live stage will feature singer-songwriters, bands and emerging performers who have been championed on Riverside Radio over the past year.

Visitors can relax in the park and enjoy:

• Live acoustic performances
• Local bands and musicians
• Singer-songwriters
• Emerging South West London talent
• Exclusive live interviews

It's a celebration of the area's incredible music scene and the artists creating original music right here in our community.

A Celebration of South West London

The Riverside Radio Roadshow is more than just a live broadcast. It's a chance to bring together local organisations, families, businesses, artists, sports clubs and community groups in one of Wandsworth's newest and most beautiful public spaces.
