Join us for a day of books, sport, music and community on Saturday 8th August

Riverside Radio is heading to Springfield Park on Saturday 8th August for a special live roadshow celebrating everything that makes our part of London such a vibrant place to live, work and play.

We'll be broadcasting live from Springfield Park, outside TOAST Stores Café, from 12pm until 6pm, bringing together local authors, sports activities and musicians for an afternoon of entertainment, activities and live radio.

Children and young people can be a radio presenter for the day in our pop up radio studio - read the news, weather, sport or introduce a song! 

The event is free to attend and everyone is welcome.

Located in the heart of Springfield Park, one of London's newest and most exciting green spaces, the Riverside Radio Roadshow will showcase local talent, celebrate reading and creativity, encourage people to get active and provide a fantastic summer day out for the whole community.

They'll be three different radio shows broadcast at the Riverside Radio Roadshow during the day starting at Midday with a celebration of books in the National Year of Reading.

12pm – 2pm: Riverside Reads

Our special live book club celebrating children's literature and storytelling.

Working alongside our partners at Book Clubs in Schools, and GLL Foundation who run Wandsworth Libraries we're welcoming this stunning collection of local children's authors who'll be reading from their books, talking about their work and inspiring the next generation of readers.

Mayo Agard- Olubo

Mayo is a writer and poet based in London who writes fiction for children and young adults. He is passionate about creating the stories he felt were missing from his own childhood, thrilling fantastical adventures and inspirational uplifting stories centred around young Black characters.

His debut picture book, Kid Rex To The Rescue about a boy who becomes a Dinosaur themed superhero through the power of imagination, is out now.

Shireen Lalji

Shireen’s debut picture book So Devin Wore a Skirt is published by Frances Lincoln Children’s Books and is illustrated by Lucy Fleming.  She writes stories that celebrate the diversity of children’s lives and family experiences and gently challenge cultural stereotypes. With 20 years in teaching and education, she is now a School Librarian, Literacy Specialist and lives in London with her family.

Nadine Wild-Palmer

Nadine is a British writer, voice artist, and creative whose work spans children’s fiction, scriptwriting, poetry, music, and performance. She is best known for her debut children’s novel, The Tunnels Below, and has worked as a continuity announcer and scriptwriter for television channels including UKTV, Channel 4, E4, and Together TV. With a background in drama and creative writing, Nadine combines a passion for storytelling with a distinctive voice across books, broadcasting, and the arts.

RAMZEE (Ramsey) Hassan

RAMZEE (Ramsey Hassan) is an author-illustrator based in London. He has written comic books for 2000ad and Marvel and designs and runs his own comics and illustration workshops. He was nominated for a British Comics Award in 2016, won the Second Prize in the Faber Children’s FAB Prize in 2017, was selected to take part in the Vaults Festival New Writers Programme in 2019 and recently was chosen for the BBC’s Voices Writer’s Room Programme. Sandra Agard

Sandra A. Agard is a professional storyteller, author, poet, playwright, literature consultant and cultural historian. She has worked in educational, cultural institutions, organisations and libraries for over forty years and has performed at festivals and events throughout the UK and the US.

Sandra’s first book, Harriet Tubman: A Journey to Freedom was published in 2019. Her latest book is The Drum Maker and the Aziza.

In July 2022, Sandra became an Honorary Fellow of The Royal Society of Literature, receiving the RSL’s Benson Medal for Services to Literature.

Sandra is a Learning Facilitator for Schools at the British Library, where she co-curated the Malorie Blackman Exhibition – The Power of Stories.

In 2025, Sandra was awarded an Honorary Doctorate from Middlesex University.

The session forms part of celebrations for the National Year of Reading, helping encourage a lifelong love of books and storytelling.

‍2pm – 4pm: Riverside Radio Sports Takeover

The Riverside Radio Sports Team takes over the airwaves and the park. The Sports Takeover is all about encouraging healthy lifestyles, bringing communities together and showcasing the fantastic sports and fitness clubs and organisations operating across Wandsworth.

Meet Jo & Federica – Founders of RAW Training

Jo and Federica are the passionate founders of RAW Training, bringing over 14 years of combined experience in the health and fitness industry. Their mission is simple: to help people become stronger, healthier and more confident through effective outdoor strength training in a welcoming, supportive community.

At RAW Training, fitness is about much more than exercise. Jo and Federica believe that movement should be enjoyable, empowering and accessible to everyone, regardless of age, experience or fitness level. Their sessions combine expert coaching with encouragement, accountability and plenty of energy, creating an environment where clients genuinely look forward to training.

4pm – 6pm: Live Music

A live music showcase featuring some of Riverside Radio's favourite local artists.

Our stage will feature these singer-songwriters, bands and emerging performers who have been championed on Riverside Radio over the past year.

It's a celebration of the area's incredible music scene and the artists creating original music right here in our community.

Mia Mi

Mia is a rising London-based singer-songwriter crafting infectious pop music with soulful vocals and a distinctive modern edge.

Her growing reputation has seen her perform at venues including Wireless Festival, The Great Escape, Knebworth, The Water Rats and Bread & Roses, earning recognition for her powerful live performances and undeniable stage presence.

Mia's talent has not gone unnoticed, with Clash Magazine naming her "the next big thing" and her recent single, Lonely Hotline, received a Song of the Year nomination from Riverside Radio station and now working alongside Hive Five Management, Mia is entering an exciting new chapter.

ROUTE11 ‍

A Kingston-born alternative rap collective blending the soulful grooves of early 2000s hip-hop with indie and R&B influences to create a sound that’s unmistakably their own. Formed by a group of university friends, the band have built a reputation for infectious live shows, melodic hooks and the chemistry that only comes from years of making music together.

2026 has already been a landmark year for the group. They returned home to headline the ROUTE11 Experience in Kingston, released two new singles, The One and Kiss and Tell, were named Track of the Week by Riverside Radio and performed at Wandsworth’s Old York Road Unplugged Festival, continuing to grow their catalogue to 11 releases.

Horologica

A South West London-based singer-songwriter from Wisconsin, USA. His relatable songs celebrate beauty, diversity, and love. A professional horologist by day, by night he's recording his original music with a Grammy-winning production team and performing across the city, all while sharing his passion for life-with a touch of humor and heart.

Hallworth

Hallworth is the alternative indie pop project of British singer-songwriter and instrumentalist Hannah Lloyd. Hailing from South West London, she spent her youth playing violin in classical orchestras and string quartets, penning songs in her free time. At 9 years old she and her brother Lewis (then 12 years old) recorded their first joint EP, burning it to CDs and distributing it to family members and sparking a lifelong love for writing and recording music. Hallworth chose her stage name as an homage to her grandmother who was an opera singer and singing teacher, and who was always singing.

After falling in love on a writing trip, Hallworth has been splitting her time between London and Nashville, finding influence in both cities, she is able to encapsulate the storytelling of the American south and big-city London grit into her music. Vulnerable songwriting with pop sheen, she shows her insides, taking time to work closely as a co-producer to make the music reflect the heart of the song. Taking inspiration from artists like Holly Humberstone and Annie DiRusso, she blends high energy guitars with crystal clear vocals, harmonies and a distinctive accent.

Hallworth’s debut EP ‘The Songs That Ache’ was released in 2024, and featured the single ‘I do love her, so’, which was Track of the Week on Riverside Radio. She regularly writes with other artists, and has upcoming releases as a songwriter on Warner Records. After a string of singles in 2025, she has spent as much time as possible writing and in the studio working on new music that feels more genuine than ever. Hallworth is set to release new music in 2026.
